Knife Gate Valve - Operating Principle;

Knife gate valves operate by opening and closing the fluid passage via a knife-like gate that moves perpendicular to the flow direction between two sealing rings.

They are preferably operated in the fully open or fully closed position.

Knife Gate Valves - Application Areas and Sealing;

This type of valve is particularly suitable for use with fibrous fluids, such as in the paper industry and wastewater lines. It ensures complete sealing thanks to its single- or two-piece body and elastomer (EPDM, NBR, NR, Viton, Teflon, Metal) seat. Options include handwheel, gearbox, chain wheel, pneumatic actuator, hydraulic actuator, and electric actuator configurations. Variants are available with rising stems, non-rising stems, and through-conduit designs.

Knife Gate Valves - Advantages;
- When fully open, the valve offers very low flow resistance and a smooth passage.
- They can be used for flow in either direction.
- The valve can be installed in any position; however, a vertical stem orientation with the handwheel at the top is preferred.

- They are easy to maintain.
